- 1 Million happy visitors
It's magical to look at. In the harbour, in the early morning light, or when you meet her, on Lake Constance. It is a majestic feast for the eyes. Even before you see her, her legendary reputation often precedes - the deep sound from the ship's horn that Captain Konstatzky sends across the lake every now and then. He lets the people look up on land and water. Elegantly, what you only know from times long gone is then pushed into the picture: a steamship of fairytale beauty.
Just imagine standing on this wonderful paddle steamer for a moment. To relax in one of the deckchairs à la Titanic, to enjoy the sun, the wind, the clear air. To experience the flair of the great steamboat ride up close. Chatting, looking into the distance, drinking a glass of champagne to the beautiful things in life with dear friends.
There are many ways to spend a beautiful day on board the Hohentwiel: Relax with your soul, relax under white sails on polished teak benches, experience romantic sunsets, enjoy the delicious aperitif with live music at our open-air bar right next to the imposing chimney, royally dine and linger in our dreamy salons or admire and know the breathtaking Lake Constance landscape: These unique moments are what count in life.
You can find an overview of all trips of the steamboat Hohentwiel here.
On 11 January 1913 Hohentwiel was launched as the seventh steamboat of the Königlich Württembergischen Staatsbahnen. Named after the fortress of the same name and the volcanic cone Hohentwiel near Singen, from May 1913 the half saloon steamer served mainly the courses in Lake Constance longitudinal traffic from its home port Friedrichshafen. The public loved them and Hohentwiel soon became one of the most prominent ships on Lake Constance. For more than a hundred years, Hohentwiel has been the place on Lake Constance that unites the past, the future and three countries.
