True paradise for active holidaymakers

With its beautiful location in the Ostrach valley, the "Three Country Community" is a true paradise for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried

In the last few years, the awareness level of the community has risen, above all, due to the major project of renaturalizing the Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried. Numerous measures have been taken to restore nature to its original state. New habitats of very special plant and animal species are created, which can only settle in this moorland area. Various theme trails lead the visitor safely through the reed and open up completely new insights.

Three countries, one community

The Buchbühldenkmal, situated on the edge of the forest above the village, commemorates the battle of 1799 in which the French defeated Austria. A few years later, in the course of secularisation, the state borders of Baden, Württemberg and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen were redrawn. Thus, three countries passed through the community from then on - a real uniqueness that could be very helpful especially for the robber gangs, such as the one of Schwarz Vere, on the run.
The border stone museum in Burgweiler vividly documents the course of these former national borders. However, to learn more about the history of the homeland, you should definitely visit the folklore and local history museum in Ostrach. Here you can discover numerous exhibits and valuable testimonies of past decades, such as the Ostracher Liederhandschrift.

Habsthal Monastery

A more spiritual retreat is the Habsthal monastery with its baroque monastery church. Today sisters of the Benedictine order live here, who are not only happy about pilgrims but also about guests who want to visit their monastery shop or get a guided tour through the venerable walls.
