Wonderful southern location on the shores of Lake Constance
Langenargen owes its slogan "Sonnenstube am Bodensee" (Sun Lounge at Lake Constance) to its magnificent southern location on the shore of Lake Constance in Württemberg, with a wide view of the lake, the Swiss shore and the Alpine panorama.
Montfort Castle, built in Moorish style, is Langenargen's landmark. Located on a headland in Lake Constance, the castle was built as a castle in the 14th century by the Counts of Montfort. After an eventful history, between 1861 and 1866 King Wilhelm I of Württemberg and his heir to the throne Karl built today's castle. The castle subsequently served as the summer residence of Princess Luise of Prussia, who spent the summer months in Langenargen with her court for 30 years.
Today the guest finds in the castle a restaurant café with sun terrace as well as premises for weddings, conferences, congresses and firm meetings of 10 - 300 persons. A tower ascent is a special experience. From the tower of the castle, the visitor enjoys a wonderful view of the lake, the Swiss Alps opposite and the hilly hinterland. The view of the historic town centre of Langenargen and the picturesque gondola harbour is also fascinating. The tower ascent takes place from 01 March to the end of October.
Boating in Langenargen
Langenargen is the ideal holiday destination for water sports enthusiasts. Numerous infrastructure facilities are available in the small community harbour located in the historic town centre and in the modern marina at the mouth of the Argen.
Have you ever taken a Ferrari across Lake Constance? Admittedly, you have to pedal this Ferrari yourself. But it is a lot of fun to set sail with the Ferrari pedalo. And if that's too exhausting for you, you can rent a boat in the Langenargen community harbour, which offers licence-free and patentable motorboats as well as charter yachts.
Guests will find all the water sports on offer in a clearly laid out form in the Lake Constance Water Sports Guide. In addition to classics such as sailing courses and boat rentals, this also includes excursions with the White Fleet, harbour cruises, bathing facilities and fun offers such as banana sailing, wakeboarding or tube. The brochure also contains all hotels, inns and restaurants close to the lake, which are particularly interesting for water sports enthusiasts and their families. The Lake Constance Water Sports Guide is available free of charge at the Tourist Information Langenargen and can be sent to you on request.
