A lot of time for everything
Allensbach has something that can only be found in a few places: A successful mixture of lived tradition and lively modernity. An extraordinary and idyllic location. A sparkling lake and a beautiful hinterland. A village structure and the exciting cultural offer of a lively town and, thanks to the Institute for Public Opinion Research, a world-famous name. Last but not least, Allensbach offers one thing above all else - a lot of time for everything that makes life more beautiful.
Located on western Lake Constance and opposite the island of Reichenau, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the world cultural site from the long lake promenade, the "Lände" as it is affectionately called by the locals. From April to October a ship commutes several times a day between Allensbach and the island of Reichenau.
"Secret city of culture" on Lake Constance
Along the Lände you get to the Seegarten and here you can enjoy pure joie de vivre: be it with a glass of wine, playing boules or at one of the numerous events from classical music to jazz on the lake stage under the motto "free of charge and outside". Culture in Allensbach has long since ceased to be an insider tip. It has often been called a secret cultural city on Lake Constance. "Allensbach Hat´s" stands for a top-class, experimental and committed cultural programme. The "JAZZ am SEE" series, for example, is known far beyond the region and celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2018 with a large anniversary programme.
Several artists have settled in Allensbach, the writer Gaby Hauptmann also pulls the strings here for her bestseller novels. No wonder in this charming landscape, where leisure becomes a must almost by itself.
Leisure time in Allensbach
Not only culture lovers get their money's worth here. The lake is particularly suitable for swimming, as it is always warmer than the Obersee. Hiking is also very popular in Allensbach, because whether through the forests of the Bodanrück, along the idyllic Mindelsee or on the premium hiking trail SeeGang around the Überlinger See - there is something for everyone.
And what to do if you don't feel like hiking? Then there's nothing like going stand-up paddling, canoeing, swimming or relaxing in our two beach resorts in Allensbach and Hegne. Afterwards on the bike and off to feed the animals in the Allensbach Wildlife and Leisure Park. Back at the village square you will be rewarded with the best ice cream far and wide. At the end of the day and this is no longer a secret tip to marvel at the most beautiful sunset on the lake.
Another tip: The MÜHLENWEGMUSEUM Allensbach is located in the upper rooms of the station. It stages the exciting biography of Fritz Mühlenweg with all its breaks and continuities: from the merchant and Mongolian traveller to the artist, but above all his achievement as a narrative cultural mediator. Photographs, exhibits, the expedition film as well as astonishing loans from the family and the estate are shown.
Opinion research from Allensbach
The Institut für Demoskopie Allensbach, founded in 1947, is one of the most renowned opinion research institutes in Germany. Have you always wanted to get to know the basics and methods of opinion research? - then the permanent exhibition is exactly the right thing for you.
