Away from the hustle and bustle of tourism
In the dreamlike situated community, you will find original traditions, which are practised away from the hustle and bustle of tourism out of enthusiasm and closeness to the homeland.
Eichenberg has the overview
From Eichenberg you can see the third largest inland lake in Europe (Lake Constance) in its entire size, the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley, the Allgäu and on sunny days, you can even see the bishop's town of Constance. The Swiss Säntis (2,502 m high), a mighty mountain range of the Western Alps, captivates the eye just as much as the island of Lindau in Lake Constance, which is located close to an optical stone's throw. What is visible to the eye can be easily and cheaply reached from Eichenberg.
On the north-eastern side of Eichenberg you have a fantastic view of the gentle mountain ranges of the Bregenzerwald as far as the Gottesackerwände, the Widderstein, the Rote Wand, the Damülser Mittagsspitze and the Schesaplana (2,694 m high), the second highest mountain in Vorarlberg.
Cheese nature trail
Thirteen illustrated boards provide hikers with a vivid and impressive explanation of the production of PDO Vorarlberg mountain cheese and other cheese specialities - from (hay) forks to (cutlery) forks.
This route also provides detailed information about partnerships around farm production and about relationships between farmers and alpine dairies, innkeepers and trade. The interaction of farmers' work, the effort to preserve the unique landscape and the expertise of the cheesemakers can be realistically understood on the spot. Two further boards provide information about the unique biotope diversity in Eichenberg.
Hiking also in winter
The preparation of sections of the cheese nature trail offers the opportunity to hike through the fairytale winter landscape of the Pfänder region on a demanding and well-signposted network of hiking trails, even in winter.
